Body padding sculpted and stitched by Athene Wright

Sarah Epting designed this costume for Playmaker’s Repertory Theater 2016 Summer Youth Conservatory production of Brian Crawley’s “Violet” directed by Matthew Steffens

The project started as a revitalization of an older set of padding intended to make an extremely young actress appear to be elderly. However it was rapidly decided that the best course of action would be to strip the leotard down to its base and build the padding up from scratch. The pads are constructed from layers of wool batting tacked to the base, mulled in ice wool and covered in power net.

This piece was created by Athene Wright in her capacity as professional sticher with Playmaker’s Repertory Company’s Summer Youth Conservatory.
